People of the 21st century are aware that such an occurrence cannot be used to malign his person; yet that stigma will so closely entrenched he will live with it for the remaining days of his life unless he seeks male infertility treatment.An impressive set of milestones have been achieved in andrological research making male infertility treatment hold a great promise for men in dire need.

It is amazing how modern technology has improved man’s chances of overcoming infertility. The male infertility treatment can be invariably managed and approached depending on the findings. Lifestyle adjustments may be adopted to handle temporary infertility. There are three approaches to  treatment that can be opted for by the patient these days: medical, surgical and assisted reproduction.

• To arrest infection,improve semen quality and hormonal problems, medications are administered in medical treatment. Antibiotics are used to address infection that may cause more permanent damage. In order to advance improvement of seminal quality, medications are often used, such as tamoxifen, clomiphene citrate and mesterolone. Moreover, gonadotrophins are used to treat hormonal imbalances.
• To remove blockages in the reproductive tubules due to congenital defects, scarring from infections and other obstructions like varicocoeles, surgical procedures are usually employed. Invasive surgery is the treatment of choice to correct structural aberrations like undescended testes or to repair vasectomy and restore fertility.
• Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) involves microsurgery requiring high-level skill and training. Sperm that cannot reach an egg due to structural defects such as retrograde ejaculation or obstruction of the vas deferens can be assisted by sperm recovery from where it is abnormally delivered to the target egg through direct injection. A common ART treatment is in vitro fertilization (IVF). What is done is to take the ovum or egg surgically from the woman’s ovary, have it fertilized by a spermatozoon artificially in a laboratory and then returned to the woman’s ovary for implantation.

Treatments are man’s attempt to play god and so will never be foolproof.  When every effort fails, it is time to consider: donor insemination or adoption?
