Pregnancy MiracleA lot of women get to that point in their lives where they want to have children and start a family.  It’s truly a miracle, but for some women it can be quite challenging.  If you want to know how can I get pregnant, there are a few tips that you should keep in mind.  These are important tips to keep in mind if you’re ever trying to get pregnant.

For all women who want to know how can I get pregnant, the most important thing to focus on first is figuring out their cycle.  For a woman to have the best chances of conception, she must be aware of how long her menstrual cycle is and when she’s ovulating.  If you’re lucky, it will be very simple and you just want to try having intercourse starting around the fourteenth day after the first day of your menstrual cycle.  For women with a regular cycle it’s usually quite easy to get pregnant and those with an irregular cycle may want to talk to their doctor to help get it figured out.

It’s important that women work to do everything they can to improve their fertility when they’re trying to conceive.  This means eating the right foods, exercising on a regular basis and quitting any bad habits.  Bad habits like these are devastating to your health and they can cause you to have fertility problems.  Women should try to avoid stress as much as possible and stay relaxed when trying to get pregnant.

Of course this is easier said than done for many women who lead extraordinarily busy lives and are working to get pregnant on top of that.  Stress can be a definite cause of infertility problems, so make sure that you stay relaxed and keep yourself as healthy and happy as possible.  A lot of women think that the old trick of putting a pillow under the hips during sex is nothing but a myth.  You can also try putting a pillow under your hips during sex and remain there after sex, as this will give the sperm more time to travel to the cervix.

Women should try to conceive and have their children before the age of thirty-five, because once they reach this age the number of eggs in their body has decreased significantly.  Women should try and have their children before the age of thirty-five for the best chances of conception.  It’s best to have children between the ages of twenty and thirty.  Women should keep all these tips in mind when they’re trying to conceive and have a family of their own.

Getting Pregnant after Forty

February 25th, 2010

Pregnancy MiracleThese days, most women feel that forties are now new thirties, and it is not too late to have babies.  However, the odds of getting pregnant are much lower as women age, and after 45, it is practically impossible to get pregnant with own eggs.  Getting pregnant after 40 can be quite discouraging and daunting task form many women as there are many misconceptions regarding starting a family late in life.  Though the trends are changing, there are definitely many advantages of conceiving at the early age.

Folic acid is a form of folate that helps reduce the risk of birth defects that can affect the spinal cord and brain, hence as per recommendations by FDA, all women over 40 who are trying to conceive must take folic acid supplements to reduce the chances of serious birth defects.  Taking drugs, alcohol and smoking reduce the chances of getting pregnant and may also lead to premature birth, miscarriages and low-birth weight babies.  Much like teenage pregnancy, older women find themselves overwhelmed with several concerns and questions regarding their condition, including how is the pregnancy going to affect her health, how the father of the baby feel, what will it be like to raise a child at this stage of life and how the new born will impact the career and retirement plans.  Though it is almost impossible to get pregnant with your own eggs after the age of 45, the fact remains that women at that age do get pregnant, some naturally, and others with the help of fertility treatments.

There are definitely certain advantages of having babies late in your life, as this gives you enough time and opportunity to see the world.  Symptoms of pregnancy for older women are quite similar to those of pregnant woman of lesser age, and many women confuse it with early menopause.  There are also certain psychological and physical benefits over the younger counterparts, and older women tend to have the healthier life-style, are more highly educated, and are financially more stable.  Aged women have positive perceptions of their bodies, and can tolerate the symptoms of pregnancy more easily.

Women who get pregnant after the age of forty also are at the higher risk of bearing the child with genetic abnormalities.  As these moms usually are more connected to their employers, they are more likely to go back to their job part-time rather than quitting altogether.  There are also emotional benefits for couples who wait to have children as they are more focused on their children.  For women becoming pregnant after 40, chances of developing the health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and preeclampsia pregnancy are higher.

Age of partner can also affect the fertility, and though men can father a child even in their forties and fifties, the quality of sperm deteriorates quite significantly.
